Europe needs to prepare for war

Why the astrology speaks of turbulence starting this spring

On the 30th of September 1938 British Prime minister Neville Chamberlain had landed back in the UK after an emergency meeting of European leaders in Munich.

He waved a piece of paper in the air, his agreement with “Herr Hitler”.

“Peace for our time”, he said.

But peace didn’t come. War came instead.

On the day of Chamberlain’s speech, before the outbreak of the Second World War, Pluto was in the early degrees of Leo and Uranus was half way through its transit in Taurus.

We’ve recently had another security conference in Munich.

And another deal has been struck, this time between the US and Russia, to negotiate a fraudulent peace by determining what Ukraine will have to pay and give up to end the war on terms that most likely will be dictated by the aggressor, Russia.

Many military experts believe Russia will not stop at Ukraine. And that when there is a peace deal, Putin will look towards other parts of Europe.

During this Munich conference Pluto has travelled half way across the Zodiac since the Second World War. The planet of the fates, of transformation and also of death, is now at 2 degrees Aquarius, exactly on the opposite side of the Zodiac to where he was in 1939.

Uranus, a planet that can represent sudden and shocking events, has travelled all the way around the Zodiac and is again about to cross the same degrees of Taurus and Gemini as he did between 1939 and 1945.

But, you don’t need an astrologer to tell you that war is coming to Europe.

Nato, the Nordic and the Baltic countries have been sounding the alarm for a while.

The consensus seems to be that it looks likely that Russia will attack a Nato country within the next five years.

There are also five different astrological phenomena and cycles that speak of turbulence ahead, and form a link to the two most recent big wars on the continent.

When the symbolism is this clear in astrology, and reinforced by different astrological events, it is worth paying attention.

Pluto in Aquarius

As mentioned earlier Pluto is now about the cross the opposite part of the Zodiac to where he was during the Second World War.

When the war broke out on the first of September 1939 Pluto was at 02’5 degrees Leo, about a month later Mars formed an opposition to Pluto, from Aquarius.

This is opposition is happening again on the 27th of April 2025, but with Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Leo.

The Second World War ended on the 2nd of September 1946 with Pluto at 10’44 Leo. Pluto will oppose this point from Aquarius in 2030.

Mars/Pluto and the fall of the Soviet Union

Many of the countries that gained their independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union were founded in 1991. They all have Saturn in the early degrees of Aquarius and Chiron opposing in the early degrees of Leo.

These chart points are being activated by the Pluto/Mars opposition on the 27th of April.

The Pluto transit to Saturn and Chiron will then continue over the next few years and hit the countries slightly differently depending on exactly when they were founded.

It could bring change and difficulties as it is opposing and crossing chart points that represent a wounding (Chiron) and limits and/or grit (Saturn).

The Saturn/Neptune cycle

We are also seeing the beginning of a new Saturn/Neptune cycle next year.

Many astrologers have pointed out that this 36 year cycle between the planet of limits and the planet that dissolves and confuses is interwoven with the history of Russia and the Soviet Union.

During the last conjunction in 1989 in Capricorn the Soviet Union collapsed and today’s version of Russia was born.

The previous conjunction occurred between 1951 and 1953, which saw the beginning of the Cold War and the death of Stalin.

Before that there was a conjunction in Cancer in 1917, during the Russian Revolution.

A new chapter begins with another Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries on February 20th 2026.

Uranus in Taurus

Uranus is returning to the same degrees in Taurus where he was in 1939, during the outbreak of the Second World War. This seems to be quite a sensitive chart point in several high profile charts.

I have already covered it extensively in this post about Donald Trump, it also features prominently in the story of Palestine and Israel.

When Uranus crosses 24’40 degrees Taurus (very close to Trump’s Midheaven) on the 30th of March 2025 it will pass over the 10th house Moon in the EU’s birth chart. It previously did so in July 1940, a year into WW2, when the Battle of Britain began. Obviously the EU hadn't been founded back then, but looking at historical transits in this way can still be relevant.

The March eclipses

The eclipses in March also speak of conflict, especially in Europe. This is covered in some detail in an excellent post by The Cunning Farmer. Who writes:

A troubling historical precedent, in light of current events, for this eclipse at 23° Virgo, was a lunar eclipse at 21° Virgo on March 12th, 1914. Raphael referred to this eclipse as “The Great War eclipse” … This eclipse will be visible and thus its effects will be more strongly felt from eastern Canada and Greenland into North Africa, Russia and Western Europe.

Where and when

Foreign policy experts have long speculated around where Putin might look next:

• Leaked documents reveal a plan to annex Belarus, a dictatorship and a long-standing ally of Russia.

• Moldova, Armenia, Georgia and the Baltic countries have been suggested as targets by several military experts and analysts in Europe.

• Some have mentioned Finland and Sweden too, although that seems more unlikely.

So let us now turn to the transits this spring.

The date I’ve picked to look at is 27th of April 2025, when, as mentioned, we have another Pluto/Mars opposition falling across the Aquarius and Leo axis, just like when Germany invaded Poland in 1939 and the Second World War began.

On this day:

Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Estonia and Latvia will all have Pluto close to their natal Saturn and Mars on, or near, Chiron in their respective birth charts. Many of the countries are also affected by the Venus, Saturn and North Node conjunction in the last degrees of Pisces.

On this day the conjunction in Pisces is on top of Moldova’s Moon and opposes the country’s Mars in Virgo, it also opposes Armenias’s 4th house Virgo Sun.

Uranus is also at play and will start to square Belarus’s Moon in July and trine Armenia’s Virgo Sun in June.

Uranus will make an almost exact conjunction to Estonia’s IC at 26’33 degrees Taurus on the 27th of April.

On the whole these transits speak of the beginning of a significant shift, a transformation that might affect the link between limitations (Saturn) and a wounding (Chiron) that is part of the astrological DNA of the countries that became independent after the fall of the Soviet Union.

The transits above do not necessarily speak of war or attempts at annexation, but the astrological weather does suggest that change is coming, in some shape or form, starting this spring.

Out of all of the above, the country with the most significant transits is Nato member Estonia, with Uranus on its IC.

Germany and the EU

The most recent birth chart for Germany, from the reunification of the country in 1990, is also lit up on the 27th of April 2025.

Pluto at 3’48 Aquarius is making an almost exact conjunction with the country’s Descendant – meaning a profound change to the country’s relationships. Mars is just one degree away from the Ascendant at 4’21 Leo, perhaps a time for Germany to reveal its inner warrior once again. Who will the country fight for? With natal Mars in the 11th house, it could be standing up for its friends.

Mercury is exactly conjunct the Midheaven, the country’s status point. Suggesting Germany might be doing a lot of talking and negotiating at this time.

Neptune in Aries, transiting through the country’s 9th house, is making an exact opposition to the natal Venus in the third house, perhaps speaking of confusion related to a foreign power or around how to communicate with that foreign power.

Over the next five years Saturn and then Neptune will cross the country’s Midheaven, suggesting the country’s status in the world could be changing. An old version of the country is dissolved, and a new version steps out of the fog.

This is reinforced by Jupiter crossing the Ascendant in the summer of 2026.

As this is Germany, a country which has for historical reasons related to the last war not had a strong military, this could possibly suggest Germany having to step up to lead and defend Europe.

As mentioned there are several astrological links to the Second World War around this time. At that point Germany was the aggressor, this time the country has an opportunity to act as a leader against tyranny and oppression.

Pluto is now moving towards a conjunction with the country’s North Node. A point in astrology which has a lot of significance, but its exact meaning often comes down to the belief system of the astrologer. It can be described a point of karma, a point of healing ancestral wounds, or simply speak of a compulsive need to act.

When it comes to the European Union, Uranus, the planet of sudden shocks and events, sits on top of the Taurus Moon in the 10th house of status in the union’s founding chart on the 27th of April.

Uranus also opposes the Mars/Pluto conjunction in Scorpio in the 4th house of the homeland and squares Saturn in the 7th house of relationships and open enemies.

Pluto is separating from a square to the Midheaven and the IC axis from the 6th house, with opposing Mars squaring the same axis from the 12th house secret enemies and hidden agendas.

All of this speaks of a sudden shock to the feelings of the people (Uranus/Moon), a shock that activates the people’s willingness to fight and stand up for their homeland (Mars/Pluto 4th house), also suggesting constriction and change around who is a friend and ally (Saturn in 7th).

This is also a change to how the Union is seen and what it is like living in the EU (Pluto and the MC/IC axis).

2027 looks like an especially critical time, as Chiron crosses the EU’s Midheaven, a time when the EU’s wounds will be highlighted and visible.

Jupiter is also crossing the Ascendant at this time and the North Node is on the Descendant. And Pluto is squaring the EU’s 4th house Sun in Scorpio from the 6th house.

What war in Europe might look like

In a sobering article in the Financial Times, Keir Giles, an expert on Russian aggression, paints a picture of what a war with Russia might look like.

The scenario of Russian troops on the ground, rolling across the border into a Nato country, is possible, but perhaps not the most likely scenario, according to him.

War today could mean disinformation and propaganda – which we have seen a lot of already, but also more chilling possibilities:

• Co-ordinated attacks sabotaging infrastructure, or a cyber-attack on banks or hospitals. This could shut down important services – the internet, the banking system, the power grid and so on.

• Incendiary devices planted on airlines causing mass casualties and also a shut down of air traffic. There have been reports in the media that Russia has already tested how to carry out this type of attack.

• A missile attack on a major European city.

The strategic thinking behind this type of warfare, according to Giles, will be to frighten European leaders and the populace into “giving up”, i.e. not defending, the countries that Putin would like to get his hands on.

This is all terrifying and quit difficult to think about, which is why it is also difficult to disentangle exactly how events might unfold over the next five years. I will return to this topic and look at several different countries in more depth.

The picture of what might happen in Europe also isn’t complete until you look at Russia and its astrology over the next five years. Which is something I will also do in another post.

There are storm clouds gathering on the horizon.

Exactly how things will unfold over the coming years will depend on the choices different countries and their populations make. That will be the main deciding factor for how this troubling astrological symbolism is translated into reality.
